Check that the convector fan is free of dirt on the impellors. If it is clogged up, it reduces the air flow pasing over the heat exchanger, causing overheating

Just experienced the same problem. Tried fitting new heat sensor but still doesn't work. After 28 years trouble free service I think I've had more than my money's worth - so I'm about to buy another!

i did a service call to a warmplan heater today, problem was caused by the convector fan at the bottom of the heater not working properly. This causes the heater to reach temperature very quickly and shuts off.

I've got the same problem - the bloke's been out half a dozen times to fix it but it still doesn't work properly. He's coming out again in January!
I keep turning it on and off (after it's cut out) - and a couple of times I've got it going again - but as soon as it cools down it doesn't work.
