warning light came on speedo did not work mileage went blank car drove normally after driving several miles everythink worked normally

When a warning light comes on that means that there is a potential problem about to occur. The way cars are computerized now a days,the warning light put the car in what technician call limp mode. It will compensate other features so that you don't get stranded. A warning light is to tell you to go get it checked ASAP. The longer that it is driven in this mode the more problems can occur.
