Please can anyone help? We are unable to open the back door (full panel no glass) on our V reg Ford Escort 55 van. When you turn the key and try the handle it just feels loose and nothing happens. We have tried flooding the lock with WD40, etc, but no joy. There appears to be no access to the lock mechanism from inside the van.
After removed the grille is easy to put back.

you can remove top fixing bolts on grille behind seats and bend down grille,then if you climb into back you will find a hole in black metal lock cover where you can put your finger in and release door.then you will have to drill out rivets on panel to see what problem is

i had the same problem with my van . it is because the catch is slipping on the lock mecenizem or the wire that opens the lock is stuck . the best thing u can do is take it to a garage !
