Snowglobe Motor Repair?

I purchased the Partylite Snowglobe in 2006 and stored it according to the instructions (in the original box, upside down with batteries removed) and this year when I took it out and put in brand new batteries, the lights work but it no longer blows the snow. The motor makes a loud humming noise. It worked fine when I put it into storage. How can this be fixed?

The repair of a non functoning impleller isn't too bad of a job if you can find the part. Usually the magnets in the impeller decay and rust so the polarity gets all messed up. Replacement with a new impeller will solve most of these problems. If the shaft is rusted cleaning with Naval Jelly and very fine steel wool will get rid of the rust. But where can you buy a new impeller????

Hi, We at James Purcell's Snow Globe repair have come across this more than once . Storing the globe upside down is the right way to store it if their is no air bubble in the globe . But if the air bubble comes in contact with the motor shaft ( not all of them are made of stainless steel ) so when the air makes contact with it, rust is the thing that causes the problem . In most cases the shaft getting wet then dry causing the shaft to rust then acting like sandpaper and chewing up the soft latex bushing . causing a slight vibration and also the liquid seeping in to the motor shorting it out and then not working at all . Some motors that have a working space inside of the globe have a short life which is at best should be seen by a Globe Tech. Who might be able to solve your problem . The public is not aware that some globes are reduced to next to nothing because if they are not sold in three years from the date of manufacture they might leak ,Motors quite working, Become air bubble burdened and they
can't be sold easily . Send an "E" ( thelmaandjim@eastlink.ca )
We will tell you your best choice !! Jim.

Hi Jodi When the sitting Snow Globe , weather upside down or not
Which you are right about .... Does not have anything to do with the motor storage . Now answer a few questions please . Your motor
is the type that sits under the platform and has a little propeller on
it . or does it have an impeller that goes around and pushes out snow all around the platform . ? I would suspect that it is a prop type ! .
The impeller type can be fixed .
