how to enter with dead battery?

My battery has died and I cannot gain entry to the car to open the bonnet

i got told this ages ago when it hapened to a work m8 , if you turn MASTER key in lock as far as it will go to the left it should unlock . As when you normally lock is thats the 1st lock position but if you turn it a little further it has another safety position for cases like this
