No power to my Ebac 2600EX Dehumidifier?

For 2 days my dehumidifier hasn't been working, I changed the fuse.. 7 times. Just no power, no nothing. Took the back off, all the connections looked fine, nothing looked burnt... What can it be?

Gary's response is exactly the same as mine. Big bang today and SCR1 with a blown leg off. Also took out the 331 as well.

My question to Gary is - did you get it fixed and can you explain how you soldered the 331's. i.e. up down or across (i.e pin 1 to pin 8, 7 to 2, 6 to 3 etc)

8 7 6 5
1 2 3 4

or 8 to 7 and 6 to 5 (as it looks like 1234 are not used).

Thanks

This problem would appear to be quite common. I have the same problem on an ebac 2650e, no power to the unit.

I took a look at the control board, a 600v silicon controlled rectifier triac (marked as SCR1 on the board) had blown and taken out 2 resistors on a 4 resistor array (marked 331 on each set)

I have replaced part of the array with 2 singular 330 ohm resistors, I am awaiting a replacement SCR from ebay.

The SCR is a T405Q-600, this is also known as a BT136S600, with any luck this will be on my doorstep in the morning ready for fitting. Hopefully, this "should" solve the problem, a couple of quid vs 50 quid for a new board, we'll see...

Most probably it is the electronic control circuit board, spares can be obtained direct from Ebac.

My Ebac 2650e has exactly the same problem, cost for a replacement part is about £50.
