Mend Rover 45 Working Fan Plate

position 1 and 2 not working on blower fan on a rover 45 03 plate?

i have a rover 45 on an 03 plate. i have had 4 replacement parts for the climate contol unit from a scrap yard.what causes this part to fail and would buying a new part solve this problem

The heater control resistors have gone. Remove the glovebox, to the left there is a raised cover, remove the 2 screws. Carefull they will be hot if you have had the fan blowing on speed 4. Lift out the unit, and you will see the 3 coils, one will be broken. Take this to a salvage yard to replace, try www.roverbitz.com I get my bits from them.
