does a 50cc scooter have an alternator?

Jason, how can the output be measured as 7-8volts if you're using an ammeter. You can only read volts through a voltmeter and amps through an ammeter.

yes , most bikes have a stator/alternator , it should be the opposite side of the kickstart side,

infact most scooters lighting only works off the alternator ,

you need to get an amp meter on your battery when running to see if a charge is going back in to the battery. should be around 7-8 v

also most new battery's are sold at half charge .so might need initial charging
