Mend Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 Interlock Cycle

How can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius 1200?

Select wash cycle correct indication. Press start and after finite time door indication flashes as does selected cycle LEDs.
Appears door interlock U/S causing defect, any ideas where this is located and if it is a common problem. Is it likely to be a physical switch or board problem? Grateful for any help.

the door interlock is located behind the door catch if you take the door gasket off the front rim you can deal with it from there just held on with two screws
