phillips car 400 radio coding?

replaced battery now radio remains on safe and will not let me enter code how doifix this?

the system for entering in the code is shown in the radio manual but basicaly what you do is using the preset buttons ie 1,2,3 ect to enter like 6317 you would press number 1, 6 times then number 2, 3 times etc then I think you press the as button to enter the complete code
