replacing side to side brake pipe on vauxhall vectra?

very awkward pipe this one,got a union on o/s of tank and then runs over to n/s,if you don`t have access to a two poster ramp then would find this job nearly impossible to do just jacked up on the ground,the problem being to get the pipe securely refitted into the clips and routed correctly,have heard of people actually dropping the rear axle a small bit to help with access,good luck
