Mend Ford Escort Reg Steering

Bonet catch P reg Forst Escort?

I have recently bought a P reg Ford Escort and cannot find the bonet catch anywhere. I have looked under the steering wheel, by the seats and just cannot find it. Please help.

I would have thought it would be a red catch under the steering column,look under the front parcel shelf to the right up the side of the door pillar for a hook shaped catch,it may also be on the passenger side.
