Mend Chaffoteaux et Maury Noise Water Heater

pilot noise?

my Chaffoteaux et maury (water heater) is making a noise a bit like tiny little back blasts and the pilot light gets bigger and then smaller with each noise. It is also doing it more frequently now. Many thanks

Most likely its got carbon build up. Shut it off try to scuff with a fine wire brush. If you have a thin piece of wire try to run it down opening in the pilot tube just a little way down. Then just tap on the tube lightly with something. Relite & see if that helped.
