games wont play anymore. ps2?

Hi. my ps2 has a mod chip but won't play games anymore. even orig games. i was given some backups and want to play them all i get is the red screen "Please insert a ps2 disk". please help

It's wierd, but mine works (sometimes) when i lay the ps2 upside down or tilt it, it can take a few tries.
