Mend Murray Mower Stay Starting

my mower will not stay started. We keep putting starting fluid in it and i?

My murry mower will not stay started small push type. It has gas and oil. It will only start for a few seconds when we spray starter fluid in it. Any ideas? It has not been sitting around unused.

Probably water in the carb. Remove float bowl and empty it. VERY likely if it has been left in the rain (water enters the tank through the vent hole and sinks to the bottom. Next time it is started, water goes into the carb and effectively blocks the jet).
