No easy way round this. The water is in the footwell but could be coming in from anywhere. Best way is to remove carpet and underlay. If the water is clean the it's likely to be rain rather than road water, so get yourself in the car with a good torch while someone sprays the car all over.Don't blast at it because you could force water past a seal that wouldn't normally leak.
If you can track the leak to a certain area, just trickle the water around, starting low down and working upwards till you find the spot. Even a tiny hole in the sealer between panels can cause quite a bit of water to come inside. If you can remove the carpet and underlay completely you will be able to let them dry for a few weeks. Wet underlay will never dry in the car at this time of year and won't help keep rust at bay. Also if you run the car for a few weeks it will give time to see if you have cured it as there may be more than one hole. May even be just a missing grommet or bad door seal.
Pain in the arm job. Good luck.
