How can I fix my Nissan Almera that won't start?

hello my nissan almera 1.6Ltr 2006 model is just cranking but not starting. Its pumping petrol nicely and have got a good spark on the plugs but still not starting. I took it to a nissan garage they told me about a crank sensor which i bought a new one it couldnt start but later started. The following morning the problem started

I have a nissan almera N16 2006, it does not start, the engine just cranks. Checked it and there is no power in fuel pump even in the fuel pump relay. Fuse is ok. Checked for loosen wires, all seems ok. Any ideas?

hi

i got a almera n16 from 2000 and mye engine dont run but mye starter run. their are no light on as a problem but he just dont wanne start. their is a new battery and a new starter engine in and it still dont work.

I told my friend i would try and fix his 2002 almera 1.5L as it's not starting and i know a bit about cars. I know the chains give trouble and i'm hoping that's not the case...
I'm not getting a spark at the plugs and i've changed the crank and cam sensors,can anyone point me in the right direction on where to go from here??? (i have no fault codes,and immobiliser light goes off when ign is swithced on)

Try the crankshaft sensor but since you havent mentioned the fact that the yellow engine management light isnt staying on please check the wiring to the starter and replace the starter motor you should at least be hearing the solonoid click

Have had a few almera's in over the years difficult to start. Sometimes you turn key and nothing happens. Remove cowling from around steering lock. Push key in while holding hand on opposite side of colum. Have found some loose on far side, will start first time when you push in from left while turning key. Simple bodge with a cable tie to keep in place. Worth a go.

had a similar problem with a nissan primera a few years ago. after numerous visits to a garage and new batteries etc, went to a auto electrician who spotted the problem within 30 seconds. there was a little rip in one of the cable plastic sleeves exposing a small piece of wire. intermittently this wire would arc over to the engine mounting when the ignition was turned. problem was solved with a small strip of electricians tape.

Ive got a 2003 1.5 petrol almera and it will not start when engine cold or left a day unless i bump start it. After it starts fine but it cuts out sometimes when i go for a drive and i have to leave it a minute then it starts .Fuel is getting through ok,is it a sensor or the dredded stretched timing chain?

I'm just about to sell my 2000 1.5 SE, and the starter has begun to stick, so the car doesn't always start first time. If I thrust the key in and turn it in 1 movement it seems to work, but sometimes its 5 or 6 goes before the engine turns over.

I can buy a new motor from a u-pull-it for like £8 but what I'd like to know is how much I could end up paying to have it fitted?

Should I just be honest about it and sell it cheaper? It's been like this for a few months and isn't getting better or worse...

Try just turning on the electrics until you hear a whine from the fuel pump, when it stops start the engine.

I'm having the same sort of thing on my 1999 (T) seems to be fine then all of a sudden won't start, the only thing i notice is the dash clock resets itself when it happens so can only think is must be a electrical problem, gone to many garages and various bit changed but still same

Been having similar problems, got a 1996 1.4. the battery is fully charged but on fully turning the key nothing happens for 2 or 3 turns and suddenly it just kicks in. suspect the starter is on the way out, how much can i expect to pay for a starter and how easy, or hard are they to replace?

im just in the process of taking the alternater and starter motor out! im going to have them both reconditioned that should solve the problem

Hi. I am having the same problem at the mo. Ive got a nissan almera, 1995. 1.4. At the mo, the starter motor will not work. Ive tried tapping it with a hammer, and has worked for a little while. however at the mo, its not starting. should i either change the wires to the motor itself, or change it entireley. thanks

After changing the battery and the starter motor, we haven't had a problem for the past few weeks.

ive had the same problem itwas corroded and loose wire to the starter cleaned it up and touch wood had no probs for a month now.

For the N15 model (1995 - 1999/2000?) Dont know why the garage have changed a distributor cap if starter motor wont go. Check these as i have had similar problems in the past.
1 Listen for the solenoid coil on the starter to see if it clicks when you try to start it
2 make sure the key is turning all the way, mine now and again needs an extra push, probably a worn set of contacts on the barrell.
3 If you hear a click from the coil, get someone to tap the starter motor with a broom handle or something long enough to reach down the back of the engine.
4 Check fuses and relays to make sure they are in properly not loose.

If you still have problems, send me an email with all the information to jeffw0502@aol.com I have a full workshop Almera manual in the garage with all the faultfinding stuff in it and drawings etc...
