Cleaned the 3 plunger contacts and contact pads. The wiper motor earth wire connected to the tailgate registers some 10 ohms to the care body earthing points inside the boot. I connected a wire between the two whereupon the wiper motor worked normally. Q: How is the car body earthed to the tailgate - surely not through the hinge pins! Please help.
Same problem on 2000 Ka Collection, rear wiper and boot release intermittant operation, removed plastic sleeve from boot latch and now works fine.

yes i think it is earthed through hinges(escort is), i had escort with same fault -cured by running earth wire from inside tailgate to rear inner wing.
