Itried and it worked. My radio hadn't worked in over a month. Good to have it back. I also found a pdf manual

and while it was downloading, I tried your information. Also had to set the clock. Haven't done it yet, but manual says to hold the sel (select) button for 2 seconds and you can select to set clock hours and minutes.

Here's what the manual says for the KD-S550/S600:

How to reset your unit:
Press and hold both the SEL (Select) and ø (Standby/On/ATT) buttons at the same time for several seconds. This will reset the built-in microcomputer. NOTES: Your preset adjustments — such as preset channels or sound adjustments — will also be
erased. If a CD is in the unit, it will eject when you reset
the unit. Pay attention not to drop the CD.
