hi check the door microswitch is working ok visually checking wont do the trick use a multimeter or buy a new one. the door switch is a safety device to save ya from getting ur arms ripped off. if the microswitch fails due to corrosion and wear then the machine will fail in all aspects.
if it is washing and not spinning most likely a timer fault

If it is a belt style washer, you may be having trouble with the wigwag that puts your washer from the agitate to spin mode. This is a moving part so perhaps a wire is broken off or the coil inside the wigwag is bad. Again, this is if you have a belt drive washer opposed to a direct drive washer.

check to make sure the belt hasn't come off the pulleys or snapped!
