Mend Hotpoint First Edition 1000 Spin Drum Fault

hotpoint first edition 1000 wont go into spin !?

Hi!
My hotpoint first edition doesn't go into a spin , the drum turns normally on washing but does not carry out a spin operation .
Any clues on what to look for????????

try lowing the drain hose into a bucket at ground level whilst re-starting the spin cyle to see whether it will go into the spin. If it does then it will definaly be the pump which needs checking, these are very unreliable BTW and often are the cause of problems like this
