how do i get my immobilizer to work on 1998 renault megane?
the battery ran out on the electronic key for my 1998 renault megane. have replaced battery but the electronic key won't work and vehicle became immobilized by default when the battery expired. How do I get the key to work again and mobilize the car again?
i had this problem a few months back. i contacted a renault dealer and they sold me the re programming code for my vehicle (each vehicle has a unique one) and gave me instructions on how to enter it using a sequence involving the door lock/unlock switch near the gear stick. to my amazement, it worked. they charged about £20 and i had to take log book to them to get the code.

This has just happened to me too! I took it to renault and they said it may cost up to £400 to get the car looked at! Ive only had the car 2 months and could cry.

i've heard that if you hold the button down on the remote until the light on the remote goes steady red then you press twice. This should work otherwise try presseing twice on the remote.
Please do this inside the car!! with the doors closed so it doesn't interfere with the doors mechanism
