how to gain access to fit belt?

You have to split the cabinet. First take the top off. You will see a bracket each side at the top held on by bolts. Remove the two rear bolts each side. Then go to the side of the machine. At the bottom is a plastic plug. Remove this (one each side) Behind it remove the bolt. Then two bolts at the rear. About the same height from the bottom as the side ones. Remove. Now you have to lift the plastic piece that supports the fill hoses. Depress lugs and lift. Now the whole rear of the cabinet should slide back (watch the drain hose) giving you access to the belt.
