Dyson DC07 getting hot?

Hi, Over the past few days I have had a horrible smell coming from my Dyson, so I removed the clear platic container and looked up the yellow tube in the middle to find it completely clogged and unclogged it, or so I thought...I ran the hoover today and still the smell, so I looked on this website and saw instructions to clean the cyclone, so I undid the 3 screws and ewww loads of blocked dust. Cleared and cleaned this and put the hoover back together and hoovered again.
But now underneath the plastic container, (the grey cover with the sticker on it) is extrememly hot to the touch & it is worrying me as I dont think it should be like this.
Any ideas as to what is causing this? I have had this for 3 years now.
Thank you :)

Hi Tina.

When you undid the 3 screws & lifted off the top did you only clean the large oppening ?
If yes then you still have not done enough to get maximum air flow.
You need to clean out each vortex tube.
You didnt mention the pre motor filter this is the one on the side with foam in side it.
Wash this with soap & hot water both parts use a paint brush to scrub white filter (do not use any other type of brush the bristles will be to hard).
To check white filter is clean hold up to the light if you can see dark patches it is still clogged use lots of soap or try using carpet shampoo & scrub again with paint brush this disolves all the impregnated crap.
If you still having problems let me know.

Hi, I am working on my DC07 again today - putting it back together to put it away - we have a couple of other machines we can use instead. The other half doesnt want to spend money replacing the hoses (about 40 quid). I looked at the spares site for the Hepa filter yesterday and its about £22, not cheap. I forgot to mention you should be getting a good airflow through the vents under the canister where the filter is - I guess that your not....

Hi Malcolm, thanks for your reply :)
I will try to prise the grey cover if I can to see whats under it, I know the filter on the side is clean and not clogged, so I will post my results in a few mins :)
As for the cyclone part, just undid the screws and very slowly pulled of the top, it is kind of stiff like suctioned but I am a mere female and not that strong but I still managed to get it apart ;) Only thing that is tricky is when you put it back on the top you have to make sure the long thin black rod fits perfectly in the little groove at the bottom of the cyclone whilst lining up the top part, took me some time to do this on my own :(

1. Under the plastic container you should have the Hepa filter. It is supposed to be 'lifetime' but can become clogged. It is on the output side of the motor and filters the allergens out of the air. You can prise this out and run the machine without it.
It should greatly improve the cooling and the suction.
2. I have tried in the past to remove the top section of the cyclone, after I removed the three screws I could not get the sections apart. Any suggestions ?
