Hi-the lever when properly adjusted should travel 4-7 clicks when moderate pulling force is applied to the lever. If it travels less then there is a chance the parking brake is not releasing completely and or the brake shoes/pads are sticking to the drum.
If the lever can be pulled up more than the specified clicks there is a good chance the parking brake will not hold on an incline.
Before carrying out any adjustment it may be best to operate the handbrake lever and brake pedal several times
To gain access to the parking brake cable adjuster remove the centre console. Then loosen the lock nut (upper nut) while holding the adjusting nut (lower nut) with a wrench.
Turn the adjusting nut until the desired travel of the lever is attained. Tighten the lock nut.
Before replacing centre console, if you haven't already done so, jack up the rear of the car and after adjusting the cable apply the handbrake and confirm that the rear wheels are locked on. Also after releasing the handbrake confirm that the rear wheels spin freely.
If you feel that the rear wheels aren't locked enough then adjust the cable more but make sure that the wheels release when the lever is off.
If you run out of adjustment your brake pads/shoes may need replacing.
Good luck
