Hi, just had the same problem with mine, dc07, the loud click when you try to lower it. The cure is to clean the plastic runner under the motor body. If you turn it over theres a groove that runs from back to front on the bottom of the motor housing. In this runner is a spring loaded clip mechanism. Clean up the end of the clip and where there is the 'stop' in the channel (for the upright position) clean in behind here. Any grit or dust will give the end of the clip too much grip and it wont ride over the 'stop'. I also finished it off with a small dab of Vaseline in behind the 'stop' - I actually used a lipsalve that was handy (not the chapstick type !). It is a nice smooth action now. Only trouble is found that the flexi tube next to it has gone/split. Had to tape that up for now.....very troublesome these Dysons !
