how can i fix my immobiliser?

After driving my rover 414si M reg for 1 day with 1 of the doors jammed i had a stereo fitted and a speaker repaired. When i got home the central locking started to work and the jammed door. Now, the alarm light is on and it refuses to start. I believe this is down to the immobiliser. How can I fix this? I cant afford garage fees and dont know much about cars. Any help would be gratefully apprieciated as i've been told it would probably cost more than the cars worth to fix and i'm broke.

If you have the owners manual look to see if there's a card with a four digit number for the imobiliser. you enter it using the drivers door lock with the key by turning it one way, then the other the number of times for each digit.

think you start by turning it one time to the left then the number of times to the right for the first digit then to the left for the second and visa-versa then one time the other way to finish. check in the manual to be sure.

if you get the imobiliser of then just use the key to open and close so it dosn't happen again and leave the imobiliser of.

Take battery out of key fob, hold both buttons down for 10 seconds.replace it, go to car press lock button 4 times then unlock. It worked for me.

I tried that overnight to no avail. I got in touch with the dealer and he reckons that i gotta get the car to him and he will make up a fob which is gonna cost a little under £100. not best pleased as I will have to borrow it. Thanks for trying though.

I'm not familiar with the Rover immobiliser, but generally disconnecting the battery for a few hours can cure many of the electrical problems with modern cars - it effectively 'reboots' it.
