Mend Zanussi 1600 Aquacycle Washing Machine Wont Start

Washing machine wont start?

I have a Zanussi 1600 Aquacycle (been working fine for 2.5 years) it has power but now when I turn it on it makes a single loud buzzing noise and will not operate. The door is closed (will not open) and there are no other lights on the panel other than the on/off which stays lit when turned on (with the short buzz).

Is it time for a new machine?
