it could be as simple as the control for screen width going faulty depends really if the control is analogue or digital, there should be internal controls on the circuit board to control screen width, but unless you know what you are doing it's very dangerous to go poking around inside the back of a monitor they can have between 25kva and 35kva on the anode cap which connects to the back of the tube with what looks like a rubber sucker connected to a lead, I wouldn't advise opening the back unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing
