I repair vaccums. I was frustrated when I looked at this assembly the first time. Yes, to do it easily, you would need to own a special tool (two piece). I am told the dealers do it for about US $129. That was rediculous. It would have been so much easier to make one belt like Kirby vacuum does for US $2.25. In the case of the Dyson, you have to buy the belt assembly clutch and replace the old one once the belts are stretched out. The assembly clutch cost me US $36.95 dollars wholesale plus freight.. I sell it for $59 plus charge $30 for my time and trouble, as it is not the easiest to change out. I recommend not buying one til Dyson addresses these costs. Even at US $89, it is high even if a bargain compared to the Dyson dealers charge. Good luck.
