how do you change the brush on a dyson dc07 with clutch?

I can find where to buy a new brush, but am having trouble getting the old one loose from the belt. Is there some trick to getting slack, pieces that come apart? The only repair manual I can find restricts the belt changing to the silver/yellow model. I have the purple/blue
