Mend Zanussi fl850 Wont Work

Zanussi fl850 programme selector dial won't work?

It just goes round and round with no contact to the programme selector thing inside. I've managed to get the top of the machine off and can wiggle things with screwdrivers but can't get the front panel off to get a good look at it. And I can't see how the front selector would connect to the back one anyway. Is it terminal?

no its the plastic knob thats gone
if you look at it theres a tiny hole drilled in it
push a safety pin in the hole and turn anticlockwise
