Mend Hotpoint WMS38 1200 Washing Machine Repair Motor

Help on Hotpoint Aquarius extra wms38 1200 spin?

Drum does not turn during any programme.
Drumwill turn by hand freely
Belt is good.
Motor shaft turns freely by hand.
Drum does not rotate when requested by any programme.
How can I isolate this to being a motor issue - can this be expensive to replace or would I be better buying a new machine(5yrs old), please bear in mind i live in Rip off ireland.

Any help appreciated, cheers
