cant get my steering lock off?

If your car uses the tibbe style key it will be that the key has worn and not operating fully . Go to your local locksmith who will be able to read your key (only 4 different cuts) and cut you a new one. This will be as good as new.Also if your key locks door/boot etc. but hard to open this a classic sign of wear.

The Ford keys wear out at quite an alarming rate sometimes, best bet is to try your spare key and see if this cures the problem. If not then then a new ignition lock will be required. These are available in either kit form to make a lock barrel to the same key number as yours or as a complete new lock and barrel with new keys. Be warned they can be tricky to fit
