AEG Lavamat 675 Problem with buttons?

Hi,
this machine has a strange design where buttons such as half load, short wash etc pop out when the door is opened (also by a button). So if you set a wrong choice you have to open the door to reset the buttons. Today I pressed a button by mistake but they are now stuck - i.e. openning the door does NOT eject the buttons. Has anyone seen this or got any ideas as to how I can get them out again?

ha ha ha! Hi there Phil! Guess Mike has probably fixed it or bought a new washing machine by now!

I hope that other souls in trouble read what to do with stuck buttons in old Lavamats .....

NB My Lavamat just stopped working. Guess
its the carbon brushes this time.

my machine is 16 years old. I had this problem after two years of use - some buttons used to get stuck in down position. I pulled the knobs off, removed the pannel undert the knobs and the whole mechanism from inside. Sprayed the buttons and visible mechanical parts with silicone lubricant. Never had the problem again. One lubrication was enough.
