You do it when the iron is cold. Turn the cord clip a quarter turn to the left and it will detach. Behind it is a screw cap that needs to be unscrewed. On the back of the metal cap is a rubber sealing washer, Make sure that this still fixed to the back of the screw cap and has not lodged itself inside the tube as you don't want to end up pushing the sealing washer inside the steam generator when you connect the rinsing attachment. If all clear, connect the rinsing tube by fitting it inside the base unit and turning it right until it locks. The outlet will be pointing downwards. Place the unit at the edge of a sink and connect the tap end connector. Turn on the water and rinse for a minute. Once complete disconnect the rinse tube and reassemble.Once you switch on press the restart button for a few seconds till the orange light goes out
