Inkjet cartridge?

Having purchased a black inkjet cartridge for my X1180 I find it doesn't work. I have emailed the supplier 3 times for ideas or returns policy and had no reply [Two weeks now].

The cartridge emmits the ink but it seems to spread it over the base of the cartridge and not print anything.
Would this be a fault with the cartridge or my printer. The colour prints fine. Both cartridge carriers are side by side.
It won't even print on the test page. Colour YES black NO
