If you fit a valve called a lift-off radiator valve it isolates the radiator so anytime in the future that you want to remove a radiator you can do so without draining the radiator by simply turning a turn screw and then removing the radiator in the normal fashion with the water (and inhibitor) still contained.

close the trv(big knob). place a bucket under the lsv(small valve). loosen the large nut to allow water to escape(do not spill this on carpet as it is usually black and will stain). when empty disconnect the trv(if this has a frost setting it will not shut off completely so if your heating is on cap the valve off with a blanking cap). lift the radiator up keeping level. when free of the brackets empty any remaining water into the bucket.
