What is the best way to treat wood knots which have started to come through white paint? I did use a knot sealer before painting, but this has let me down. I now need to fix it.
Pare off any resin lumps, sand back the area of the knot and surrounding area to bare wood, apply several coats of knitting or shellac or french polish. Don't sand again. Re prime and repaint.
