Is it safe to disconnect gas cooker while i change flooring?

I am putting wooden flooring in kitchen and need to move cooker out of the way, if i disconnect it, will any gas leak?

also i will be getting a new cooker soon, can i just connect this to the old connection?

Yes you can disconect the bayonet coupling to move the cooker out of the way as long as it is a push and twist to relase coupling it will seal itself this is ok for short term work but should not be left like this permanently, to connect a new cooker you will need to remove the hose from the original cooker and you will then need a sealant like rocol paste to put on the threads before fitting it to the new cooker then a drop test should be done to prove you havent got a leak anywhere
