I suspect this will be the drum bearing gone. I've had this twice now on my 3 yr old machine - it seems to be a weakness.
Also - unlike most machines - the bearing is integral with the rear half of the tub so that has to be replaced as well apparently, though a local guy did replace the bearing alone after a lot of cobbling as the Zanussi service people were all for writing the machine off as an uneconomic repair. They quoted about ÂŁ150.
Was it screeching or rumbling on spin before it seized?
