Mend Ford Transit Diesel Van Hill

transit 2.5 diesel lack of power?

hi i have a 2.5 1994 and it is sooooo slow top speed 50-55 does anybody know why this is so slow? and what speed should it go and if i hit a very small hill the speed is 20mph.

Ford Ford Transit Vehicles, Vans Diesel Van Hill

I surspect that it has a bosch fuel injection pump.These have a common problem of a piston sticking in the top of the pump.
Take it to a Bosch feul pump expert and they should be able to fit one for around £80 in about 10 mins.
