2 yr old side by side frigidaire makes only crushed not cubes?

I have the same problem. Pull the ice container out about 3 inches, see where the rod under the bucket goes in the 2 in hole at the back of the freezer, stick finger in square hole and push box inside up and down. Then slowly push ice container back into position, guiding rod so it sits on top of inner box. Corrected my problem.

we have the same problem, our frigidaire side by side is a little over three years old.did you find out what is the problem?

I have the same problem. I spoke with a Frigidaire customer service rep. The young man had me use a hair dryer to blow on the area of the 1" by 1" window. He said that sometimes the rod gets frozen in place (or stick). This window is attached to a linear solenoid which pushes or pulls a rod that's connected to the 1 by 1 window which goes up or down providing "cube" or "crushed" ice. I think that mine is broken. Replacing it may solve the problem. I'll let you know.

I had the same problem on my icemaker - I solved it by taking a piece of tape about 3" long and after moving the lever to the cube position, I stuck the tape on the lever and pulled it out the hole and taped it to the bottom of the case. The tape has been in place for over a year and I have all cubes. This will NOT allow you to switch back and forth with the front panel lever (not a problem for me) but is also removable.

Mine does the same thing! If you pull out the ice drawer, there is a small square opening behind the ice drawer about 1" by 1". If you stick your finger in this opening and move the slide lever up and down a few times, you can replace the drawer and it will work fine for a few days. Then, you may have to repeat this practice. I have not yet found a permanent fix, but will post it here when I do.
