Mend Russell Hobbs 2200 Steam Iron Heating

My Russell Hobbs Steamglide 2200 iron is not working?

My steamglide 2200, is not working the lights on the base for the steam are still lighting up but the iron is not heating up or is the light coming on, what could be wrong? could i fix it myself?
