Mend Fisher & Paykel Switch Smartdrive

How can I fix the Lid trip switch on Fisher & Paykel 703 smartdrive?

Fisher & Paykel smart drive 703, toploading. Suspect the lid is not connecting when closing to allow the machine to operate. Where is the trip switch located on the lid or around the sides ? How do I fix ?

Thanks

I have a Smart Drive 085, again with a magnetic switch.
Did some testing and realised that the magnet in the door was not strong enough any more (I understand that over time they loose their power particularily if they get knocked about a bit - so dont close the lid too hard)
So I scavenged a magnet out of a little speaker (from a keyring noise maker but any little speaker will do) and have taped that to the rim of the machine over the switch. Position the magent so that the machine starts and then tape is the easiest way.

No problems having to worry about shorting wires in this case

... and I forgot to answer "Where is the switch?". If you look carefully at the underside of the lid you will not that the is a difference in the plastic underside cover where the magnet sits. The micro switch is located under the main surround adjacent to the magnet. To get to it you
0) turn off the power
1) remove the dome covers from the two screws in the top of the machine under the lid at the front.
2) remove the screws.
3) lift up the whole surround, revealing the main internals of the machine.

The switch is clipped under the surround at the position described.

This happened to me too. i.e. the machine would not run. So I went in search of a micro switch. On my unit (same make and model ?) I found a sealed read relay which was open circuit. When placed on a magnet it did not close, so I figured the machine would operate if I could simulate "closed". I took a pin and pushed through the two wires feeding the switch, which shorted them together. It now runs. The machine will no stop if anyone opens the lid but this is not much of a problem in our adult household. We were in search if a part when we stumbled upon your question. Regards
