How can I mend boot lock Ford Mondeo 1800 diesel?

i have a 56 mondeo hatchback and the boot intermittently won't open. it's getting worse. when it started i could open the boot once or twice after turning engine off but then it gave up. then it progressed so that if i unlocked boot first , before trying to unlock the doors, it would open. now it is completely random and sometimes will open and sometimes i get no sound at all on pressing the button (either on the remote or inside the car). have read about WD40-ing the cable in case it's jamming. also about possible motor problems. will have a go with WD40 and if this doesn't fix will test the motor. any other ideas?

my 53 plate mondeo 20ltr tdci estate i took the cover of the boot as it wont shut i then took out the two brass scews on the silver plate and shut the boot by mistake now i cant get it open
any info would be great on this

I cant get my boot to unlock on a 03 mondeo estate.

It does not whirr or any thing......... it used to open just fine

my ford mondeo 98 diesel wont start even with easy start seems like something is shutting the fuel off does the batterys in the key fob cause probs if there dead?

have had the same problem with my 98 mondeo it is a common fault Iam told inside the boot where the boot catch clicks into the lock is a electrical motor to get a it take off the cover and unplug the connection take out holding screws the moter is on the left side then slide to the left take care when disconnecting pull out through cutout ,when loose replug to connecter if it does not move in and out you need a new moter dont get one from fords they cost nearly £70 hope this solves your problem if its not the moter the its electrical best of luck
