Just had exactly same problem. Unscrew top 2 screws at back of drier, pull top off (needs sliding backward to do).

You can then look inside and see if the belt is snapped.

It's a 10 min job, and providing you remember to unplug the unit first and can hold a screwdriver, it is a simple job!
