speedometer needle stuck?

i have a 2001 Chrysler T&C. The needle of the speedometer has for some reason moved below the stopper in the speedometer. In other words when I start the engine, the needle moves about half an inch until it hits the stopper. Has anyone had a similar problem. I'm not sure if this is a software problem or if it's a mechanical problem?

After the battery went dead on my 02 Chrysler T&C, the needle went completely around behind the stopper. I took apart the dash in front of the gauges and the clear cover comes off & I simply turned the needle to the other side. Take out a few screws & it was simple.

if speedometer needle stuck on wrong side of post afterbattery drained then....
It is not a fuse. I've had this happen on several cars. This simplest answer is to get the needle back on the other side of the pegs. There are 2 ways to do this. Carefully dismantle your instrument cluster. Or, the easier alternative. Start the car and then smack the dashboard where you wont break anything. I know it sounds barbaric but you need to smack it. Hard. Do this and the needle will jump the pegs and all will be well.

I know it sounds stupid but try disconnecting neg battery cable and reinstalling but if the needle is under the stop it will need to be manually moved above it .....weird ...
While driving try slapping the instrument panel .....
