Mend Triton T80 Shower Solenoid

Triton T80 How to replace solenoid?

I believe that I have traced the fault in my shower unit to the solenoid (Triton 83300450). Grateful for any advice regarding fitting this new part.

I think you need to remove the whole shower unit for you able to remove the solenoid as the end of the elbow fiitings connected to the heater cannot be pulled out w/o removing the whole system.

My method when i replaced my solenoid is the same with Steve, otherwise you need a short open wrench to remove the connecting nut on where the solenoid tube is ocnnected (supply)

So, the trouble is probably no water coming out of the unit when the switch is turned on.

Have you checked the micro switches underneath the cover and switch assemblies for correct operation? The cover is easily removed by prising off the covers above and below the main control surround (I can't remember if this switch surround needs to be prised off first !) can be removed upwards and downwards respectively. Under these covers are screws which secure the front cover.

The solenoid is located at the water inlet, and is usually connected to a compression fitting elbow to the water supply. The inlet to the valve is the same, and requires the nut to be completely loosened. There are several screws to remove the flow regulator, solenoid and heater can assembly as a complete unit, it is not necessary to completely remove these items. But I don't think there is enough clearance to remove the valve on its own without loosening these components.
You will be able to get away with not disconnecting any internal electrical connections apart from the 2 spade connectors to the valve itself.
It is much easier to do if you remove the shower unit from the wall, by removing the mounting to wall screws, and the mains electrical supply at the connector at the top left (inc earth wire) of the shower unit.
Remove the mains water supply to the solenoid valve and lift the shower unit down.
The heater can, flow reg and valve can then easily be dismounted for the shower back and the components simply pull apart.
Note how everything fitted together (top tip, take some digital pictures of the assembly before dismantling), fit new valve assemble into the shower backing plate.

You will need a new olive for the water supply, but the nut from the old valve can be reused by cutting the old valve inlet stub, if you wish.

Anyway, refit to wall and tighten water mains input to valve joint reconnect main elec supply where disconnected and check for operation (and leaks !)

SAFETY FIRST.
DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY AT CONSUMER BOX AND MAIN SHOWER SWITCH, AT LEAST, BEFORE REMOVING SHOWER COVER

rebbeca, firstly turn off your water supply,
remove your blue and brown wires,
unscrew the brass fitting (screws onto the bottom of the solenoid assembly)
remove the two holding screws, and the solenoid assy should pull out.
To replace firstly fit new O Ring to the top of the assembly and simply reverse the removal steps.

hope this helps
