Mend Hotpoint WMA35 1100 Washing Machine Motor Faulty

Hotpoint WMA35 1100 motor not running?

The motor on my Hotpoint WMA35 1100 stopped working suddenly, i.e. it didn't deteriorate. Have checked the brushes and there's loads of carbon left. Another reply I read suggested checking the response from the tacho. Is a faulty tacho a possibility and how do I check it? Failing this is it likely to be the control panel at fault?
